Breadcrumbs
We are excited about our discovery of Rattlesnake pole green beans, said to mature without irrigation when planted at the start of the summer monsoon rains. The Tepary bean (Phaseolus acutifolius, Fabaceae) has been grown by the native peoples in Arizona since pre-Columbian times. It is more drought-resistant than the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) and is grown in desert and semi-desert conditions. Tepary will be prominent in next summer’s trials. If you have a favorite corn, squash or bean, known here collectively as the three sisters, please let us know. We are always happy to trade some of our offerings for yours.
