High Altitude Gardens

My father and I have 50 years combined experience finding, growing and testing seeds in cold, harsh, short-season gardens. We know what it is like to garden through 2 hail storms and 9 frosts between Memorial Day and Labor Day. We know what it is like to awaken to 9 inches of new snow on our garden on the 4th of July. We have grown and selected the varieties you see listed here.
If you are new to extreme gardening consider beginning with the “cold season” vegetables. These hardy friends will survive sudden frosts and unexpected snow-storms. Graduate to the “warm season” vegetables after you have some experience with success. They will die if frozen. No second chance. Gardeners from 10,000 feet in Colorado to the dachas in Siberia have devised innovative and creative solutions to protect mouth-watering tomatoes to grace their dinner tables. Do not be deterred. Do not be disappointed. Persevere. Experiment. And most of all, have fun. We are the pioneers.
Products that have an “add to cart” button are available in the size listed. Those without are offered in different sizes. Please click “product details” to determine the amount you want to order.
